Iztaccihuatl Mountain: A Climber’s Log

Group hiking Iztaccihuatl

Last weekend, I accomplished the most physically (and mentally) challenging feat of my life. At 5,286 meters (17,343 feet), Iztaccihuatl is the third highest mountain in Mexico and the seventh highest in North America. And, over the course of 15 grueling but eye-opening hours, I hiked the “sleeping woman” – and lived to tell about it!

This #GivingTuesday, I kindly request that you ple This #GivingTuesday, I kindly request that you please support my CLIMB FOR A CAUSE...

On December 11, 2021, I will be climbing #PicoDeOrizaba, the highest mountain in #Mexico and the third highest in North America. The hike will be about 15 hours and will include a 4-hour trek across a wildly steep snowy glacier.

I have no doubt that it will be the most challenging physical feat I’ve ever taken on. However, it pales in comparison to the challenges experienced by the 6.2 million Americans living with #AlzheimersDisease and their caregivers every day.

Which is why I'm climbing for a cause and hoping to raise funds for and awareness around this debilitating illness that we still know so little about.

Want to join me in making a difference? Please consider making a donation to benefit the @alzassociation Alzheimer's Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research.

You can make your donation via my @gofundme page (link in my bio). Any amount makes an impact – even if it’s just a few dollars!

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

✔️ Neck pillow (The @trtl pillow is my go to!)
✔️ @Airborne_us tablets (For a much needed immunity boost)
✔️ @Colgate Wisp Disposable Mini Toothbrushes (Fresh breath and no need for water)
✔️ Headphones (@Bose noise-canceling headphones have been a game changer!)
✔️ A pair of @earplanes ear plugs (If you're sensitive to pressure)
✔️ An empty water bottle
✔️ Snacks (Don't be that passenger. Pick ones that are mess and odor free.)
✔️ Travel slippers (Foldable slippers are easiest to pack)
✔️ Tea sachets (shameless plug here for @gachitea)
✔️ Eyemask (Bamboo and weighted is the way to go.)

What are your must have carry on items? Drop them in the comments below.
